THE HOLM SHOW
Oor Tribute to Andra Scott.

Andra was one of the founder members of the committee who re-instated the Holm Show after the war in 1948 as a young farmer.
Wondering where and how to erect the marquee. Was the marquee big enough to hold the many, flowers, vegetables, baking etc? Where the sheep, cows, goats, horses etc to go? What entertainment was going to be on?
He continued on the committee while the Holm Show grew introducing the dog trial at Whithaugh and building the footbridge crossing the Liddle. Some may have had wet feet!
He was very much a part of the Clipping Competition and Barn Dance holding some events at Dinley.
He became Vice Chairman in 1983 becoming Chairman in 1990. He was a very diligent Chairman. He was also very keen for the Holm Show to take part in the various celebration and floats within the village.
In 1993 he was Chairman of the Centenary Show where all the committee dressed in relevant costumes. He was very smartly dressed in his Top Hat.
He retired from the Dinley in 1999 and moved into “the best hoose in the Holm” overlooking the show field, so he was always able to keep an eye on the show.
In 2001 he retired from the committee where he was presented with a walking stick. He accepted the role of Vice President.
He was Vice President but continued an active role until later years where he slowed down, although still looking forward for his minutes and always coming to the show and visiting me in the secretary marquee on show day.
I’m sure many of you have so many memories, laughter, at some of the things he said and done!
We would like to thank Andra’s family for donating the collection taken at his funeral to the Liddesdale Agricultural Society (Holm Show).
We are thinking of you all.
